Eedris Abdulkareem & African China Praises Kenny Ogungbe, Calls Him The ‘Godfather’ Of The Music Industry

The duo of multi-talented artistes Eedris Abdul-Kareem and African China has heaped praises on Kenny Ogungbe over his impact in the music industry and the role that his record label, Kennis Music has played in the formation and sustenance of the musical careers of so many artistes in the country.

As guests onPrimetime Africa, a frontline music programme on Raypower FM, the two A-class musician showered encomium and plaudits on doyen of the music industry Kenny Ogungbe owner of Kennis Music calling him the essence and the godfather of the music industry

In an emotion laden voice, African China said that the impact of Baba Keke as he is fondly called by his teeming admirers on the music industry cannot be over-emphasised

‘It is high time that this industry come to you, the industry owes you big time for the development that Kennis Music as a record label has brought to the industry. In fact you are themusic industry itself. What you have contributed and given to this industry cannot be quantified’ he said.

Calling on Femi Adesina, the special adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media, Idris Abdul –Kareem said that in the face of an ailing economy occasioned by falling oil prices, the alternative to crude business is music and entertainment.

‘It will create a lot of employment opportunities, most of these young artistes are riding Rolls Royce and Bentley today because multi-nationals have come to realise that they can’t sell their product without music’ he disclosed.

He however urged the special adviser to call up Baba Keke so they can draw up a blueprint that will move the industry forward.

‘The industry will bring in money, musicians will get their royalty while government will also get its cut, Federal Government needs to take advantage of the opportunities that entertainment industry offers’ he posited.

The duo went on to heap more praises on Baba Keke calling him the godfather of the industry

Tracing his adventure into the world of music to the influence of Kenny Ogungbe, Idris revealed that it was in Kenny Ogungbe’s studio that his sojourn into fame and fortune occasioned started.

‘I remember when Steve Kadiribrought me to your studio and ask you to listen to mysong Shakomo, whichwas the beginning of Remediesa Music group in the 90’s made up of myself, Tony Tetuila and Eddy Montana, the group blazed the trail of hip hop music in Nigeria and you encouraged us, so many record labels have come and gone but Kennis Music has remained steadfast and has continued to grow from strength to strength, we must thank God for that and we pray that God will continue to strengthen you’ Idris said.
